Hi there, I'm new to the forum so bear with me. I'm told this is the place to post my question (thanks John M70).

I've got a 2007 FL2 which I've had for about 3years. It's cost me quite a bit so far with a clutch, rear differential plus other bits and bobs so I was hoping to fix my door mirror which has stopped parking itself rather than buying another.

I've followed a post on here from a few years ago which talks about replacing two pins near the motor. Unfortunately when I take the unit off I can't get to the motor because the plastic shroud won't come off. I can remove the small cover for the hinged part but the remaining two bits seem to be fixed by being melted together at three points behind the mirror. I could drill these out but I wonder if anyone else has tried this, how it went and how you fastened the bits together again.

Has anyone out there done this? Any suggestions appreciated.

Can't really comment on the FL2, but I did one of mine one the FL1.
It came to pieces by taking a small access panel off the base of the mirror, very fiddly, then disassembling the unit bit by bit.
I got a repair kit and put it all back together, and it didn't work. After a few rebuilds I realized the repair kit cogs were slightly different to the originals and put too much pressure on the motor.
Answer: buy a second hand unit and replace the whole thing.
But as I said, I'm no expert on the FL2

Mmm, sounds like a different design on the FL 1. Second hand still likely to cost £150 isn't so I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Thanks Arctic2, looked at most of those but no joy other than someone else having difficulty with stripping the mirror down.
