Hi ,
I own the red Landrover 90 that was owned by Hugh
Fearnley-Whittingstall (River Cottage) and used in some of the TV
series.
I won It in a raffle that River Cottage Held.

I have had the engine rebuilt(it had blown up during filming of the
river cottage road trip) and it is now a well sorted Landrover 90.

My question is , do you think that this vehicle would fetch more on
Ebay because of it's background or not?

If it did, I might be tempted to sell it and buy a 90 Hardtop (it is a
soft top at the moment.

what do you think?

regards

It's down to what someone thinks it's worth. If they have a River cottage
fettish or a Crush on Hugh and got off on sitting on a seat he has sat on
then they may pay more. Otherwise it's just another Red 90 Soft top.

Do yourself a favour and just buy a hard top. It'll just bolt on and save
loads of faffing. You'll still have a vehicle of interest for events and
what have you and It'll always be a talking point much as I know to my own
luck (if you can call it that) with my 101.

Personally I doubt it, if it was owned by the queen then perhaps, but
not some hippy TV chef! ISTR a Range Rover owned by the queen going
for peanuts a while ago so no guarantees even there. Perhaps if you
could get him to autograph it or somesuch, then some celebrity-mad
nutcases might go for it.

What's on the reg documents, his name or some TV company's fleet
manager?

Before i changed it to me, it was the name of his production company
(HFW Interactive)

Celebrity mad nutcases ehh?? do they have a newsgroup?

How long's a piece of string? I'd probably pay less for it 'cos I knew
about the raffle, and knew the thing had blown ... ;) There are others,
however, who might have a fetish for HFW and might be inclined to pay more
.... but I doubt it.

Why not just buy a hard top and bolt/un-bolt it as necessary? Be a lot
cheaper and if, as you say, it's now well sorted, you'll have a bargain.

Judging by the interest in the Emmerdale 88", I'd venture that
the right person would pay a premium - *but* finding them is the
hard part.

I bought a ticket in the raffle- good cause but so far as famous Landies go
there have been more than a few on Ebay of late and they fetch no premium
although that Rangie off the daffy lady detective series looked well sorted
it was up for a second time . I know some cars will fetch extra money by
association I would have loved Mrs Peel's Elan (or am I just being pervy )
Roger Moores Volvo and a certain DB5 but even the normal cars in those
marques have reached cult status and they are rare to start with.
But I really wonder what landrover would fit the bill? the Pope- mobile?
Lara Crofts 110 ? Armand and Micheala Dennis 109 ( bet no one else remembers
that - though I think a Rhino had first dibs on it )
