Does anyone know if the distributer from a 3.5 efi v8 will be a drop in replacement for the 3.9 efi.

Obviously the earlier 3.5 efi have LE jetronic and the later 3.9 have hotwire

But I dont know if that will make the dizzy fifferent??

At the very least will the vacume unit swap over form dizzy to dizzy?

Thanks

John

Im no expert, but spending 2 minutes on paddocks comparing part numbers reveals that a 3.5efi distributer cap and rotar arm have the same part numbers as the 3.9efi.

Dizzy: RTC 3197
Rotar arm: STC 1857

Now you can quit your whining because some dieselboy has sorted it out for you in 2 minutes :D

Handbags at the ready lol

I know the cap and rotor are the same but I do not know if the electronic ignition module is the same or if the drive gear is the same and I have been reading up the there seems to be some diffrerence regarding a two or three pin plug , whether that changed at a model year or with the increase in capacity I cannot currently find out.

So as I can buy a cap and rotor for a few quid that is not a worry.

The advance curve may be different for the 3.9 so I would check the part numbers for the dizzy body if you want it exact.
There must be some info on this somewhere, maybe the V8 forum could help.
The dizzys would probably swap and make little difference to performance and maybe the 3.9 dizzy is an performance upgrade for a 3.5 or maybe the other way round, who knows.
