Hi All, The clutch on my td5 is biting about a inch from the floor and the gears are difficult to engage. any ideas anyone? is it a worn clutch, does it need bleeding, is the clutch arm bent or is the dual mass flywheel tatered? not sure where to start! Cheers in advance, Pete:(

Sounds like a bit of clutch drag....start with bleeding, it'll be the cheapest first attempt to fix it..

How many miles has it done and are they round town?

Its done 107k, i dont think its had a hard life, one doctor owner. I bought the car with the clutch fault and i shall get it sorted, like you say start with the cheapest option and work my way up to the expensive nightmare. i just hope its not the flywheel.......

the clutch fork tends to wear though and can completley push through...
if you plan on replacing the clutch yourself, get a re-enforced one, or weld a plate/washer/nut to the back of it...

the td5 has a different type of fork (same as the v8) and they dont tend to wear like the 2 and 300tdi and it dont sound like the flywheel as they tend to give clutch slip i would be thinking mastercylinder or the worst case the fingers on the clutch plate are worn
