as it’s under warranty assume they fitted a GKN , well I really hope so

have heard them go at around 15k, bet ur pleased ur not paying as a they are around £400 alone , plus there mortgage labour fees and imagine it’s a good £800 - £1000 job

It is a crap design, the front joint is top notch, then there is the centre bearing which is pretty skimpy, this can be repaired with pu/sikaflex sealant if just the rubber has split, and then there is the rear u/j fitted in a situation that no u/j should be fitted, these tend to seize.

must confess often wonder if they would last a lot longer if they didn’t do away with grease points , another sealed for life item, lol

No its not the lack of grease, or sealed for life status, I see trucks kissing 1.5millions kms on sealed for life props.

It is the problem with using a std u/j for the rear joint, they have to be able to move, limit that movement and things get sticky.

Many thanks all for the helpful feedback. Very poor design to be on its 3rd prop shaft at 38000 miles and no off-road etc,
Got a L/R again but are there are aftermarket ones people have had good experience of ? - or are they just L/R rebuilds ?
