I have a 1989 discovery 200tdi but the engine is dead and have a cheap 3.9 V8 on offer to me but not sure if this will just fit with out a new bell housing or gear box ?? please help

yer just saw si worth a try all the guys on here are pretty helpfull as most of them have gone through the same sorts of probs. we us defenders owners any way you disco lot should be the same ish though. told u si u should get a proper landy but u do like ur comfort ay.

just wondered why you want to put a 3.9 v8 in your disco when you can pick a 200tdi injun up for about £150 to £200 on ebay, ok more power but what a pain in the arse to change it all over

not a lot at the moment as the big-end bearing cap came off and has damaged bore one

v8 engine only £50 and the cheapest 200tdi i can find is £250

cap is out now out but damage at the bottom of the bore and the con rod end that was connected to the cap is bent so i can't remove piston 1 at all (me and denis the menace tried all afternoon !)
nah i ment where physically is the engine, i might have it orf ya
