I've just installed a door ladder on the Disco (98 R reg, 5 door). Noticed that the door wouldn't open from the outside (works from inside the boot).

I've removed the door card off and taken a look.
There is a catch that moves with the external door handle and just below that an L shaped pin that would appear to fit into this catch.

I'm thinking I must have pushed this off with the drill or the rivnut

Its fiddlely but I've managed to get the pin back in, but as soon as the handle is pulled up the pin slips back out.
Should there be something put on the pin to prevent this. I searched inside the door, but cannot find anything. Its too dark to get a decent photo so I'll take one tomorrow.

My outer door handle jams then won't open from either side so you have to prise the handle back shut then it'll work again

Bloody things :(

I've had that before and sorted it by removing the badge and a good dose of WD40.
This time there is no resistance on the handle.

I've def knocked something off and I'm reasonable sure its the pin. Just no idea what keeps it on. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Thanks anyway.

I reckon you've put the drill through something and knocked a rod off.

You about at the weekend?

I don't have any WD40 but I do have a hammer and a crow bar ;)
