Hi.
Can anyone help me? I changed the injection pump on my Disco, when I start it, it runs and revs normally, after about 2 mins, the engine won't rev, it idles ok, it also chucks white smoke from the exhaust, but revs intermittently, dying to an idle, I have had thje timing checked and everything seems ok! I am desperate!

:welcome2: What was the reason for changing the injector pump??
Could be a blocked fuel filter or a duff lift pump, the sedimenter might need cleaning, have you checked the air filter.
We need a bit more info to help you mate.;)

Hi Rob,

The reason for changing the pump was a broken one, I was informed the little spings on the original had started to break up, giving a fast rattle, like a tappet rattle, but from the injector pump. I bought a second hand one from a reputable garage from a similar disco that had done 72k. Pump woks fine now.
New lift pump, new fuel filter and cleaned K & N air filter, I do have a new paper one, but thought better of replacing the K & N! Where is the sedimenter? AndyB, reckons there may be air getting into the system? Due to the fact I had most of the fuel lines disconnected, I will check them tomorrow. Thank you for your help.

sounds like the problem i had when i changed the lift pump

but i put the pipes on the right way then found out the pump was back to front,

but thats no help if you ain't taken the lift pump off

it does sound like fuel starveation though.

the sedimenter is under the chassis rail on the back axle on the drivers side
an are you sure 100% that ALL the pipes went back on in the right place?

oh forgot to say the sedimentor looks a bit like an upside down jam jar with a plastic bung in the bottom of it
an its fixed to the bolts the secure the rear shocks

Thanks, I cleaned the sedimenter, it was gungy! cleaned all the fuel lines, now I have found the problem, fuel not pumping to the filter! Pump works. Just now got to start at the tank and work my way up. Once again, thank to all that helped.

Julian.
