Just picked up what appears to be a common fault with TC ABS and HD lights coming on permanently.
Looks like 2 faults, the first with the 'shuttle valve' which the repair kit fixed, but a second relating to one of the wheel valves, so I am told I need a new module at £1000+ from Land Rover

Could buy second hand, but you never know what you are buying.

Does anyone know of anywhere that recon's them ?

Have seen a thread somewhere for Autotek in Poole, but they allegedly have a 'reputation' on some forums, admittedly thats for other cars.

Any advise/contacts would be a big help

Thanks

Hi I see your in Northants, I live in Coventry and for the sake of a phone call can recomend an independant garage called Andies Landies, great bloke straight to the point, tell ya as it is advice.
Second guy works from home total boffin, really nice bloke by the name of louis, if you want his number could send it direct. They might help only a call to find out.

If the shuttle valve kit doesn't fix the problem, then you need a new or second-hand abs pump. Over here they cost the equivalent of 1500 GBP so your quote was cheap (to us). Our last customer got a 2/h one for 200 though. Or you could take the bulbs out....

hi there i had the same problem with my td5 , the land rover specialist i took it said it was my abs module but mine could have the bits renewed as it was a newer td5 and i did not need a new abs module. The year of my car is 52 reg 2002, sorry icannot remember the price but it was a lot cheaper than land rover.
hope its helpped you

Have had a few quotes for second hand at around £170 plus fitting.
Still can't make up my mind what to do, as I do intend to keep the car for a while. Landies, you gotta love em.

Anyway I did think of removing the bulb, but talking to the guy who checked it out (RM motors, independent LR specialist . Top bloke), he said the disco II's bulbs can't be removed as its part of the board. Bummer..

Anyway, some more investigations tomorrow.......

Small piece of black insulation tape carefully slid down between the L.E.D on the printed board and warning symbol does the job quite nicely:D

Thanks guys,

I am hoping the messing around with it has fixed it..
Even though it appeared to still be faulty after fitting the repair kit, over the last few days the fault has not reappeared.

Even after trying quite hard and getting the TC and ABS working on all the wheels on some slippy stuff the lights have stayed off.....

So fingers crossed, they'll stay off for the MOT.....

Heres hoping.

Don't know if the problem will be owt like the one I had with my 300 but as the TC, HDC & ABS are all probably linked & run through the same ECU it could be.
I was told that if you jack up each wheel (1 at a time ) and unplug the ABS sensor attach a volt meter to the sensor lead and spin that wheel. If you get a voltage reading then that sensor is OK. Repeat for each wheel (Murphys law says that if one is faulty it'll be the last one)
you also need to check that the ECU is sending A voltage the each of the control relays.
If aany new parts are needed try this link I have found them very reasonable.
Equicar 4x4 UK parts - spares - accessories - 4x4 Breakers, Land Rover, Toyota, Mitsubishi shogun, Jeep, 4x4 Dismantlers, Spare Parts, Used Parts, off road, cherokee, discovery, accessories.

Hope this helps.

HI HAVE A SIMLAR PROBLEM WITH MY DISCO 2 YEAR 2000.
HOW MUCH IS THE SHUTTLE VALVE REPAIR KIT ,SO I KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.
MAY THANKS

DAVE

Hi Did You Fit The Shuttle Valve Repair Kit Your Self .
how much was the kit ,and where do you get them from.

thanks

I did as Patmitch but also took out each sensor, cleaned up and tapped back in with a piece of dowel then did voltage check, the ABS hub splines also have to be clean/all there and run true as this sometimes sends back incorrect info to ABS/ECU which links to the main ECU (worth checking connects to both ECUs). Therefore also check the bearings for excessive play.

Repair kit, was about £30 I think, dont remember, because I didn't fit it myself.
The total bill from the garage was only £90.... So it sounds about right.

Touch wood the problems not come back so far........

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM EXCEPT FOR I CANNOT GET ANY CODE READING AT ALL, EVEN IF WE CREATE A FAULT THE ABS MODULE WILL NOT PICK UP ANY CODES, COULD YOU TELL ME THE NAME AND TELEPHONE OFF THE GARAGE THAT HAS HELPED YOU DEAL WITH YOUR PROBLEM , ALSO YOUR TELEPHONE NUMBER SO THAT WE COULD .HAVE A CHAT PLEASE.
Thanks

Sorry been away for a while.

Garage was RM Motors 01933 411149.

Have had the problem back twice recently cleared with a flick of the ignition switch, but that could be the wheel sensors now....
