disco brakes

i have had 2 discos now and on both of them everytime i take the car to an off road event. the brakes end up buggered sos much so the drivers rear pads have felll out and the disc is shredded is there something im doing wrong or can it be a problem rectified cheers

try changeing the pistons in the calipers awell as the pads

Since running stainless steel piston in the calipers on my Disco I've not had any brake seizing problems.

If you do any kind of off roading that involves deep mud or muddy water then jet washing the brakes and wheel off afterwards is a must if you have the std caliper pistons....which IMHO are rubbish

wash them off yes but try and get some sort of spray lubricant that wont affect the seals and spray in behind the pads aswell. not on the face and the disc obviously! This'll help stop rust forming if using std pistons, which yes are ****e!

I wouldn't recommend any spray lube anywhere near pads and discs, personally ... but what works for me is whipping the pads out, and smear a thin film of copper grease (Copaslip etc) on the backs of the pads and front face/rims of the pistons.

NOTE: That really does mean a thin wipe over, NOT a great dollop ...

I also smear the holding pins and springs with it too and rarely (Don't want to say never) get problems.
