hi guys when i take my engine out of my disco and split it from the box is there any thing that i need to take care of.
i have the workshop manuel ,but its always best if somone has done the job before.
any tricki things i need to watch fore when i lift the engine.
many thanks

The dowels that locate the engine to the box were very tight on ours, we had to wiggle the engine about a bit on the crane to get it free.

Keep the engine square on to the box at all times until it is free of the first motion shaft, otherwise you could distort the clutch plate hub.

We stripped ours down to the block, all heads etc off, then lifted it out.

There's a big thread about it on landrovernet.com where we did a blow-by blow account with pictures of the whole job:

peter thanks for the info, tryed to look at the pics but needed a password.
by the way my disco is a autobox.
does that make it any harder to strip amny thanks dave

No, about the same amount of fiddling, but more critical on the actual pulling apart as you can damage the torque converter seal if you drag the gearbox out cockeyed.
