Hi,
The under bonnet Jack which came with my Disco 2 has blown the seals (after
being used about 5 times) and will no longer raise the car.
Anybody know where I can buy a new set of seals for it. The Landrover dealer
doesn't service the Jacks, and wants an arm and a leg for a new one.
It says it's a 2 tonne model made in Italy by CORAM of Cologne but I've
searched the web and can't find either the manufacturer or any retailer or
dealer.
I could buy a different brand for less than a quarter of the price the LR
dealer is asking for a new one, but of course it wouldn't then fit under the
bonnet.
Any suggestions greatfully received.
Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,

I am pretty sure a two tonne bottle jack would fit under the bonnet. I will
check later today that my two tonne one fits.

There are usually a load of these on eBay for sale, they generally
go pretty cheap.

Thanks for the replies. Needs to be a fairly squat type with a relatively
high lift.
I've tried a couple of 2 t smalll truckers jacks which have enough lift but
are about an inch too high when fully down.
A matter of searching one out I guess. Seems a shame that the original can't
be fixed.

Try taking it to a local hydraulic specialist, they should be able to repair
it for you.

There are currently 5 Land Rover bottle jacks on Ebay, the cheapest being
£1.00 so far.

Hardly worth bothering repairing yours!

Problem is I am in Australia. Postage would be high.
No LR Jacks on Ebay in Australia. Went there first.
Thanks
Rob

I'd suggest taking the rams to a hydraulic jack repair shop. Not sure where
in Oz you are, but there's a damn good one here in Brisbane - if he can't
find seals to fit he'll machine up new rams for you to suit locally
available ones & not charge an arm & a leg. Elliot Hydraulics in Marooka;
I've used them several times myself.

I'd be very surprised if this cheap, mass produced, bottle jack didn't
use standard seals.
