Hi - had a loose old one - read about how it could slip down in sump and give high oil level indications.

Brought a new one before getting the old one out - did that yesterday. One thing I noted was that when I attached the new one that the bolt doesn't screw all the way into the block - the bolt thread is about 1/2 inch long but only goes in about 1/4 inch.

Refitted the old one (the olive had slipped) but this too only goes in part way.

Can somebody confirm this is correct or should the bolt be screwed/tightned all the way into the block - it's on a 1992 200 tdi 110

Thanks!

You may find the male/male union is tapered hence the reason it will not screw in all the way
