Difficult removing roof bar

I've managed to remove the offside roof bar on my P38.
The nearside one is proving difficult. 2 of the 3 heads of the bolts have stripped smooth and therefore can't remove the plate to access the rest of the holding clamps.
I've got frustrated and drilled the heads but I'm fast thinking this will do nothing to help me.
Charles at cn4x4 suggested trying to wiggle the bar and use a pry bar to lever it off. I'm thinking this will cause damage to my roof.
My other idea is to put an angle grinder to the plate either side to expose the holding clamps.
I lose only 2 plates in the process.
Suggestions welcome.

A pry-bar sounds drastic, even with some leather or folded cloth underneath to prevent scratches.

Never had roof bars but I assume they clamp on somehow?
 
Apologies for lack of reply. I've been away working. I will upload some pictures to show a clearer explanation.
The RR gets 4 new air bags fitted tomorrow so maybe the fitter will see a way round the problem up top???

I've been drilling but realised that the bolt goes right through to the plate on the other side of the roof bar. To get to the clamps holding the bar onto the roof you must remove the plate. The only solution I can see is to put an angle grinder to the plate and then undo the clamps.
