Hi all, with reference to Range Rover's ( Classic's ) there are two
different shaped axle cases:- round with drain plug at bottom, and flat
bottomed with drain to one side, what other differences are there between
these ratios suspension points ect:-

Not a lot, the flat bottomed one is the later one and it may coincide with
the addition of an extra bolt (seven in all) holding the swivel housing to
the axle casing on each side, also to the addition of anti-roll bar
fittings. Ratios of the diffs and suspension points are all the same I
think.

Would the diffs be interchangeable and is this the point they changed the
splines on the half shafts ?

I'd be guessing on the splines but you could always change the halfshafts as
well I suppose.
