Hey
I’m green to the site. Quick question;
Caught some thieves trying to nick my Defender 90 ‘11plate. Somehow they zapped the electrics from etu before taking out windscreen (!), as I caught them.
Battery good
Fuses good

Does anyone have experience like this and could identify possible checks?
Or anyone know a mobile diagnostic in Grantham area?
Thanks

Hope you have it in a safe & secure place now, because they will be back again.
I'd hook the seat up with Neutral and gear know with positive and leave it unlocked with a light that comes on when they involuntarily complete the circuit.

If your wondering why the gear knob, they grab it, the elastictrickery then flowing through the hand makes it grab harder :)

Just be sure to bury the bodies an your golden :D

Fixed for ya.
The knob is plastic though unless you remove it.

A few things to look at; Check all indicators and hazards are working including the side repeaters, also the fuse which feeds them. Check the horns work (possibly one behind each of the headlamps), they might have been disconnected. Check the BBUS (if fitted) is still fitted behind the passenger side headlamp. These are things that might have been tampered with before the scum get in the car. Check there is no gadget fitted in the diagnostics socket. I did read on another forum where someone had found the power feed from the battery to the main fuse box (I think) had been cut - it was exposed and accessible from under the car (don't know if this is true for all defenders?).

As an afterthought, and me wondering why they took the windscreen out, is the vin number plate which is fixed to the upper dash - passenger side, and behind the windscreen still there?

:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Last night I found my lights disconnected, they couldn’t have fallen out, I did wonder if someone had reached up and pulled them, but thought why would they do that! :mad:
I’m watching out now

No all’s quiet.

Defender went about 3:30AM when that got stolen. Gonna put the dog sleep in front window he loves that P38 - it’s parked outside it

Had all wheel caps/LR badges and few miscellaneous bits disappearing over past few weeks initially thought kids no worry, but no way all the light connectors fell out all together! Can’t reach drivers side from underneath. I have a 1000cca battery taking up too much space.

I’m gonna park it round back (lockup) tomorrow start stripping it down do FIP. Won’t go nowhere then
