Defender TD5 Starter Problem

My TD5 Starter motor clicks continuously when the key is turned which sounds like the solenoid. I have removed the starter motor,renewed the contacts and checked the battery but it is still doing the same. Has anyone had a similar problem as I have only ever come across a single click when I have had problems with previous cars and starter motors

Usually a sign of a dead battery unable to supply enough current. Otherwise bad connections either at the battery or the earth strap from engine to chassis. If the battery is definitely good, try a jump lead from battery negative to starter motor mounting bolt.
