Thinking of ditching the middle seat for a cubby box - Does anyone have
any good suggestions of tried and tested types?

Would only house keys, mobile, ipod etc so does not need to be bullet proof!

If you get one that has a sponge insert that forms the cup holders,
under no circumstances must you put some freshly-cooked meat samosas
in the cup holders as the grease drips into the sponge and is a bitch
to get out. If it wasn't for the draughts, the inside of my landy
would stink of curry.

In an emergency, the curry flavoured sponge could probably be
consumed, so I'd regard it as a plus!

Also, I did manage to get the smell out, and secondly I gave up
selling it, given that it's worth more to me than cheapskates are
prepared to pay.

You could have a look at:

There's a rather long list of cubby boxes.....those with links to
pictures that actually work now!

It did, and when the migraine receeds I'll be able to function again.

FWIW, if it were mine...

I'd make the green lighter, more like the colour of the original SI - what
was that called?

There are 2 aspects to consider - colour clashes and contrast. The worst
colour clash is red and purple or blue - different wavelengths make for
different focal lengths. Your red and green is not quite so bad and orange
and green would be better still.

Contrast is best judged by turning the colour down on the monitor (if
possible) or by taking a screenshot and converting it to greyscale.

like this...

http://www.roman-road.co.uk/temp/Image3.jpg

which is the page mentioned above. A lighter green for the background would
improve the contrast for the black text as well. darker green and yellow
text would be nice and contrasty - perosnally, I find dark text on light
easier than light text on dark, though.

http://www.roman-road.co.uk/ddol-las/records/outdoor-i.htm

has a few variations on colours which I think work OK.

Do you have Opera there?

I just switch style to user mode whenever I need to look at that site.

view --> style --> user mode

Alternatively, select-all usually presents the text in a readable manner.

yes, but I don't use it, as Mozilla suits me better - notably, the different
user profiles. 'course, Opera may do that too by now. I've never really
placed much credence in the much-vaunted speed of Opera, and I'm not so keen
on the look and feel.
