defender 90 fuel tank - one hole or two?

Hi all... just discovered my fuel tank is knackered. its not an original, its a cheapo one fitted about 12 years ago (not by me).
am now looking at options for replacing it. have seen posts where folks advise repainting/sealing the new tank before fitting- which is frankly ridiculous... surely a fuel tank of all things should have a minimum standard for integrity and non-corrosion whatever price-point you buy it at... diesel fuel being a hazardous material and all

anyhow... it seems a genuine land rover tank is several hundred quid whereas a pattern part can be got for about 90 so maybe i will be getting busy with the paint and sealant afterall.

Just before i embark on such madness, however, i wanted to ask a couple of questions about the difference between one-hole and two-hole tanks because i have an opportunity to buy a genuine one-hole tank at a reasonable price although my tank is a two-hole.

1. will my existing fuel gauge sender fit into the one-hole tank?
2. where to the send/return pipes go on a one-hole tank and will i need to modify my existing pipe fittings?
3. are there any other major differences between a one-hole and a two-hole that might give me grief?

Thanks in advance. :)

PS. if anybody is in the business of plastic mouldings there's a serious gap in the market for a plastic version of the defender tanks!

Done a bit more research and i think i get the picture.... the sender and fuel pickup pipe are integrated on the one-hole tanks, the return pipe has a small hole also... so theyre not really one hole tanks at all!! unless anyone has any easy tips on conversion it looks like i'll have to go for the right tank with the two holes...

I'm pretty sure my tdci has a plastic fuel tank, n I believe TD5's have plastic tanks too. Might be worth investigating if one of those could be made to fit?

good idea! a bit late as i've gone for a metal tank and decided to seal it, paint it and proof the underside with dinitrol 479. Hopefully by the time this one needs replacing somebody will be making plastic tanks for the older defenders :)
