Hello All.

So whilst undergoing my 110 project I had an idea to make some door trims to tidy up any unsightly bits of my door bottoms where it would make sense to cover rather than straighten the doors.

This idea kind of came about when I looked at door chequer plate but it wasnt really what I was after in terms of style and the fact that there wasnt much choice available anyway.

So I went ahead after speaking to a couple of people and got out the tools and made these up.

Ive called them armour trim but really I think they are more aesthetic but they will prevent further door damage to an extent and will hide warps or rot - but obviously it would be best to treat your doors first with a fix.

I have a few more bits in the works, but I wouldnt mind some feedback on these, are they too small, too big etc etc If I get some good ideas I will try to get them made too as to be honest its really fun.

Anyway without further ado - here is what Ive made:

Ive made these to fit all defenders and this includes the rear door

Dimensions are : 34mm high x 3mm deep x 5mm at the bottom lip x door length.

Fixing method is double side foam tape & silicon to prevent dirt and water, or they can be drilled for a more solid fixture.

Im hoping to reduce the price on these eventually but lets see if there is any interest, theres no way to negotiate it otherwise.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these, and I hope to get a fitted picture soon to show off.

Heres my ebay links:

2 door set

3 door set

5 door set

Thanks for looking and please let me know if you love them, hate them or just think they are plain useless :D

Im thinking of getting a cross member plate made up, are there any suggestions on what it should be made of, what it should feature and how it should attach.

I decided aluminium isnt the best option and will price up some steel, Im really not certain how best to get it to attach though.. ideas welcome and Ill see if its cost effective.

Cheers

Ive managed to reduce the price on these somewhat to further test anyones interest and to see if they are viable to produce in larger scales. cheers

Did you speak to Accy about these?

Not a fan of any type of cross member cover. Door trims are fair enough and can tidy things up but if a cross member wants hiding it wants changing and most folk will assume the same so it will actually reduce the value of the vehicle

Hey BB,

No didnt speak to Accy.

You could be correct with regards to the cross member, I do have some other small things Im making for my project which I will probably offer up for interest first then. Mainly its fun making them for my own hog - its my own conecpt vehicle :D & I would love to attempt a grill design one day
