Def 200TDI or 300TDI? Which is better and why?

Guys,
Sorry if this is repeated, but am very curious to know whats the big difference between a Defender 200TDi & a 300TDi? Are the specs the same? Which one is superior for a 110? More Reliable etc.

200 owners will say theirs is best and 300 owners will tell you that you need a 300. In reality there ain't much to choose between em.

depends where you want reverse to be!
on a 200 the reverse is next to 1st gear, on a 300, it's where a 6th gear would be!

Not necesarily. You might have a 200tdi and an r380 box, or a 300tdi with an lt77.

I take it that you are replacing an old non tdi engine? If so it will probably be much easier to fit a 200tdi. They are clearly older though so much harder to get a tidy one. That said I just managed to get a disco unit with a genuine 45k and it's lush.

Just done a 300 into Na apart from moving engine mounts was a breeze and saved the mony for the conversion kit (exhaust) so pound for pound not a lot of difference good thing with the 300 is they are newer so better chance of getting a good one mine had 120k on the clock of the disco and had it running. Best thing i have done to the old boy
