Hi , firstly I'm not sure if this the right place to post this but here goes.
As I previously mentioned in my last thread I have a limited budget and been offered a 1989 landrover 90 2.5 diesel that requires rebuilding.
I have decided as this will take me a long time I might aswel have some fun while I'm at it.
SO I decided I want to build it to look standard (ish) outside but convert to a rover 3.5 v8 .this is due to seeing and HEARING on the other day!

So obviously I've done an enormous amount of reading on V8's etc but would realy like to pick the brains of anyone willing to help me out???

Before I commit to the 90 would this be a suitable base unit as I know the chassis is sound?

What would the best tranny, gearbox drivetrain etc?
Please pitch in with any help or advise on this build as believe me it will be appreciated ;-) thanks chaps . Rob

With regard to v8 I was thinking along the lines of removing the EFI in favour of carbs any opinions on either option? I also want to run a manual gear box but which is best suited? Ta

Whatever you do, you must ask Drivel how he puts V8's together ... And then do the opposite!

Sorry Drivel, couldn't resist that :D :D

you know they produced v8 defenders?

Yeah I will look out for one as project but as I mentioned I can only afford a wreck at moment to start...I'm just after advice and experiences to arm myself for the long voyage ahead lol

I'm guessing I could run a r380 gear box and 300tdi transfer with the rover 3.5 unit?
