Hi I've got a 1999 Discovery TD5 which has had some issues for a while but now its completely given up.
It has had the barrel removed from the drivers door by the previous ownder for some reason?? and one morning I came to the car and the fob wouldn't work and without a lock I couldn't get in. So called the RAC and he got a screw driver out and simply put it in the whole where the lock should be and unlocked it. At that point the alarm started going off but the fob then worked again?
Another weird thing was a few times after stopping the car I could turn it off and take the key out and the engine would keep running until I pressed the brake pedal the it would die, but as soon as I let go of the brake the ignition would come back on and all of the dash lights came back on, the only way to 'turn it off' was to put it into reverse.
Now when i try to start it I get 6 'bongs' form the dashboard and on the third I get a capital B with a line through it appear. I have been told this relates to the under dash fuse box so I removed it and found corrosion inside so I have changed it for one that came from a running vehicle and It's still the same.
Does anyone have any ideas??
