de-cating the range yes or no

hi guys thinking of taking the cats off the range v8 4.0 se,my only issue is,when i take the lambda sensors out will any warning lights come on?and second do i disconnect the sensor wires take out the sensors the reconnect them and tie them up somewhere or what?i remember doing it a few years ago in my nissan skyline and just took cat out fitted de cat pipe in and that was it.thanks in advance
 
firstly, do you have either lpg or a friendly mot tester to get the vehicle through mot's with the cats removed. i have a 93 rangie which ive fitted 4 branch manifolds to replace the cats. i drilled holes and welded nuts onto the manifolds to accept the lambda sensors. these are infront of the cats so the ecu shouldn't notace any change to the running of the car. the range should run without the lambda's but it runs far better with them fitted.

you will need to put the sensors back in or it wont run right , i decated both mine and put them back in and runs fine
at the moment if you are on lpg you can get away without cats for the mot test but as far a i am aware thats about to change in the new year
 
I cut the cats out and fited a lenth of flexi pipe cos i didnt like the idea of the full system having nowere to flex when the engine rocks , kept the sensors in
Sounds nice and throghty and more responsive at low revs
And yes i have a frendly MOTer hes my uncle.
 
i can as it goes
now ill give you the messurements i took off mine but if you have a none standerd cat they might be differant
the engine side of the cat was 60mm outer diamiter and the back section was 55mm outer diamiter
so what i did was sleave the back section with a 56mm inner diamiter/59mm outer diamiter pice of pipe (fortuanatly i had some kicking around)
then bridged the whole thing in this stuff eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace (make sure you get 60mm inner diamiter) and had it welded on (clamps will probably be just as good)
i first tryed to do it with solid pipe but if you look closly the pipes go into the cat lower than thay come out this ment the pipe wouldent fit because it hit the cross beam under the car
