Put the Daihatsu lump in over the weekend, fitting kit from Precision Engineering was spot on.

Engine fitted a treat, after having to remove half the nearside footwell, to accomodate the Turbo etc  This also means the heatermatrix box had to be removed, might poss get it back in, but will have to blank half of the bulkhead hole off, so now even less heat....:(

Main problem being is that the manifold now exits about 6 inches above the chassis, so will need a custom exhaust to fit this.

Other thing, in the Daihatsu Fourtrak there is no fuel pump, fuel is 'sucked' to the injector pump, by the injector pump, if you get my drift... But will it suck from the landy tank, will it buggery, so methinks a leccy pump is going to have to be fitted, on a test the engine runs sweet, just need to get the exhaust sorted.

Anybody know anybody in Kent who would come to me to make it suit on the vehicle???

Home made my exhaust for the 2.8 td in my series 1, just a couple of bends around the chassis and all is well.
The internal lift pump on the Dai FIP should be man enough to draw fuel, only time i had probs was when it ran low the sucker just couldnt get the fuel to the pump to run...Ended up blowing air into the tank to force bleed, no problems since...

Cheers Lee

Not sure wheter to route the exhaust inside the chassis (Very close to engine and oil pressure sender) or outside the chassis, which is a severe 90 degree bend x2.

Cant fathom the fuel out, I will wire a pump in as I dont think it will harm the Daihatsu pump, only reason I can thik that the FP is mot sucking is that air is getting into the pipe, but new plastic and rubber hoses, all secured with jubilee clips should be airtight????

what running gear are you putting the engine thru.... I got a series 2 crash box, overdrive and standard diffs..just under 90 flat out but everything is screaming.MPG not good at those revs. gonna put some rangy diffs in once i sort out how to fill the buggers.

my exhaust goes between the chassis and engine, didnt have a problem with the bulkhead as there was a v8 fitted in its past....If you get stuck I can throw some pictures of where mine runs if you need them..

Lee, just running normal S3 box and axles, dont do any distance so should suffice, do keep looking for an overdrive though... BUT if I spend much more on this beast Im divorced....

Anyone know a good lawyer??

Coule of options, Merlin Motorsport, (I think, but I could check)sell all the bends and straight pieces so you can make whatever you like, Other option ther eis a place near me that will make you whatever you like in stainless from a drawiong but its £600 ish.....i have the number somewhere....I'd be trying to bodge something out of standard tubes and bends....
