Checked levels last night before wife taking car to horse show, useual levels all fine, had car about 3 weeks, only problem was horn on at 3 am, read lots and horns now disconnected.

I noticed last night that the ace bottle had one side (furthest from front of car) below the minimum. No warning lamps on. ordered Dextron 2 fluid to top up. Anyway wife away to stables, drove there 10miles, she noticed red warning lamp on only 1 mile from house but continued on and back so 20miles later got to me.

The same bottle was completely empty, i presume i have it right and that each bottles serves individual sides of the vehicle. fluid seems to be leaking to the front suspension bars on first inspection, at aleast thats where the fluid is running and eventually dripping from.

ill be tracing the leak and hopefully find something easy to fix on the 99 disco, but if not how much gbp should i expect to spend to convert the disco to standard type anti roll bars?

Anybody with any similar issues who found where problems where coming from please give me a shout.

You want an ace removal kit- also you want to introduce yourself

Hi Bud
The two bottles are different, the one closest the passenger seat is the Ace reservoir and the other the pas. Both use the same fluid.
I finished removing the Ace on my disco yesterday, had some good advice from the guys on the forum.
If the pipes are heavily corroded replacement pipes are expensive and difficult to route as i found taking them out.
I took the disco out for a test drive and could not notice any real difference in the handling.
It all boils down to time and money.

thanks, topped up the fluid and it shot through, looked down below to see it just pouring out, as i was in a field with limited tools at hand i broke away the inner wing plastic sheild to get at where clearly the leak was (ill fix the plasitcs later), loaded up the resevoir again so i could see it and the rubber that seperates the pipes looked to be where it was coming from so moved it to one side and it jetted towards me and inner wheel, pipe has a hole in it. nothing i could do but wait till resevoir empty, clean it all down with toilet roll and get it home. once there i washed it all down and jacked up the car so i could see properly a linkage was in the way to see properly, i wire brushed the area the pipe/s were leaking to identify exactly where the leak was so i could mark it for repair tomorrow. Then something strange, with a full reservoir no leak? left running, still no leak, took off the axle stands and left running with still no leak, warning light and sound still there but not leak at all, makes no sense to me, the hole in the pipe was definealty there and as jetting fluid towards me, its not fixed so its someting else,

Cheers
J
