i think my crankshaft oil seal has gone! it was leaking a bit, now it is leaking alot! the oil is dripping out of the bell housing so i'm guessing it is the seal behind the clutch. i understande in order to do this transfer and gearbox have to come out along with half the interior. is there anything else around there that should be replaced while i'm at it? it has a new clutch, i wish the previous owner had the seal replaced at the same time!

Cheers, Steve

hey there, the haynes 'book of lies' reckons its easier to remove the engine? (ive just removed both as im putting new engine/tbox in anyhow..) i'd replace the spigot bush in the end of the crankshaft at the same time..
;)

it is much easier to remove the engine, i've done both.

if the clutch has oil on it replace it cos itll give you grief otherwise, check it very carefully.

While its all off, you MUST remove the flywheel housing from the block, and clean up and re-seal the mating surface between the 2 cos thats where most leaks seem to come from around there.

If you want i can help you do this, cos i've done this job a few times now?
