Hi new member here, 1st post.
Have been having a cooling issue over the last couple of months, Ist over heat was sorted by replacing the thermostat. All seemed good, but when I replaced it the radiator specialist stated that as a result of the gunk build up in the thermostat I should have the radiator rodded. Everything seemed fine except it just didnt smell right, you know that hot overheat smell. wasnt losing water but just didnt smell right. Then had another small over heat issue. So stumped up the $$ and had the radiator rodded and the system flushed. They stated that the radiator was gunked up and the system also indicated that It had had a headgasket problem in the past. However the coolant was clear with no indication of oil so no indication of a gasket issue now. So three days later I blew a pin hole in a step hose in the area below the exhaust manafold. Replaced the step hose and replace the cap on the expansion bottle. Had another small over heat episode two days ago and thought that I my have an air lock. So this morning bleed the coolant system using the bleed screw and squeezed every hose I could see. Got some air out. Drove for around 20 mins and the temp stayed stable. Still nervous and watching temp gauge like a hawke. Is there anything else I can do. If the coolent is clear and no water in oil etc engine perfomance is unchanged could this still be a head gasket issue. How can i check this.
Sorry long winded but Im running out of Ideas.
