I have a 92 200tdi 110. The coolant gauge started to read over the red (after I ****ed around trying to remove the ****ty green filter over the bulb). I measured the thermostat housing with a temp probe, it was 69.8-70 degrees depending on where I measured. I checked the gauge earth and the sender earth, both read less than 0.01ohm (the lowest my meter will read). I found a gauge on eBay, new old stock, for a 200tdi. I stuck a bid on and won it.
The gauge turned up and appeared different. It has a white bar on the left, red on the right, and a thin white over the top. The old gauge has a solid white bar from left to right/mid, with a red bar right. The old gauge PN is PRC 7311, new gauge is NSN 6685 99 360 4483. I know this is a NATO Stock Number, but I can't find any reference to it on the web. Is it for a 200tdi? It reads almost at the 12oclock position after 8-9 miles in 15-20deg heat. I don't have the temp probe to measure the thermostat housing, but the hot air from the heaters "feels the same".
The temp sender is PRC 8593. Is this an OK setup?
