Hi All.

I plan to fit some big wheels and tyres to my Series 2a V8.

I want something wider and maybe a bit taller.

I was thinking 7 x 16 modulars but i am not sure what tyree size will fit.

I have been told 7.5 but i am affraid i am of an age where this means nothing to me.

Can anyone help with maximum tyre size without serious mods?

I am hoping something along the lines of 265, 70 R16 (format not size :) )

Cheers all.

Talk to Craddocks, usually the best on price for a wheel deal.
7" steelies like mods or eight spokes have about an extra inch of offset kicking the track width out a bit helping keep the steering lock reasonable.
750's are a 7 1/2" wide tyre with roughtly 100% sidewall height, and is the old, OE imperial sizing for a LWB.
Metric equivilent is a 235/85R16, which is between 1/2" & 1" bigger on roling diameter, depending on tread pattern / wear! and about 1" wider across the tread, and std size on later 110's.
Wider than that is really not much of an advantage, pro's and cons in wider rubber, re grip; means more contact area, but less pressure on it; narrower tyres often have more 'bite', and they offer more steering lock.
