I have one of these conversions in my Series III 88" and it adds an incredible amount of power, acceleration and fuel economy. The only downside is due to the type of mechanical injectors used it is a little bit louder than the Land Rover equivilent, however for the added power and fuel economy it's worth adding a little soundproofing material! If I wasn't planning to sell my 88" I would install a Fairey overdrive and would easily be able to keep up with motorway traffic.

That is why I bought the Ford Transit 2.5 di engine complete setup (radiator, transmission adapter plate, engine mounts, exhaust adapter) off of a Series IIA Land Rover for my Series III 109" which has a fairey overdrive installed but due to my Land Rover club's competition regulations I have decided instead to install the Land Rover 2.5 Non / Acceleration engine like I have in my ex-mod Defender instead so I can compete.

I have had the engine since March of 2012 and haven't done a thing with it, it has simply been taking up space in my garage and collecting dust. All the parts are there, nothing has been left "open" the air cleaner is on and has been the whole time unlike a lot of engines I've seen laying around over the years.

The Transit engine itself is rather common and I assume is only worth around £100 or so, however, the conversion kit is rather rare and the only ones I've been able to find new are close to £400 or higher. The setup should fit any Series II-III Land Rover with minimal effort. I have not personally installed one, but everyone I've talked to that's done one says it's relatively straight-forward.

I am asking £275 for the entire setup. I will be buying an engine stand - or figuring out a set up where I can start the engine and record it running for you-tube, or show a buyer it runs so you can be assured it's a good buy.

I am based in Brighton and Hove, and you can collect for free or I can deliver within a reasonable distance for £25 up to 50miles round trip, or £0.075p per mile round trip for up to 150 miles total.
