hi all just need to check if this is normal
my td5 TC locks up in drive 80 kph .kicks out 70 KPH
in 3rd gear TC locks up @ 70 kph but hold this all the way down to 50 KPH is this normal ?
 
TBH, I don't think that a traction control/gearbox issue is anything to do with the Td5 engine.
I think you'd be better off posting this in the Discovery section, giving a few more details about the vehicle, which by the inclusion of the word "drive" I presume is an automatic.
 
I think he means Torque Convertor locking clutch on the autobox, not Traction Control!

I can't help you much I'm afraid as I have a Disco 1 which only locks up in top gear but it does do that at about 80kph and it is notically the same box.

so it appears 80 kph is the desired speed for top gear lock up at what speed does it unlock ? top gear

my tc can also lock up in 3rd not to sure about the D1 if it does or not only recently I have noticed unlocking at low speeds 50 kph just trying to work out if this is normal or do ihave an issue developing

Yours will be a an electrically locking one controlled by the ECU. Mines an hydraulic one so it locks and unlocks at the same speed and in top only.
 
After a while you get to manage to do it by habit.
habit yes I have lots of bad habits LOL but I I found that the discovery section its everything to do with alarms /traction contols/ roof racks /air con fans /basically to much to list even engine issues ie loss of power
3rd gear lock up still hasn't been answered is there a transmission section ?
the main one ie lower speeds with TC lock up
was basically asking the difference between 3rd lock up and 4th
I can confirm within margin my TC locks up earlier to others and holds longer compared to others in D / 4th gear

but only recently I have noticed a change in when my TC unlocks in 3rd gear ( as we become custom to our own vehicle ) what ever I have done or something has come to life I don't know

reason I ask its actually nice with lower speed lock up using the lower rpm and torque of the engine compared to how it use to drive in 3rd gear (like I said we become custom to how OUR vehicle performs )

and the only recent work I have done was in the engine bay .

as for posting in the wrong section ..for example .the engine coolant sensor plays a big role if the TC locks up ...where is this sensor located ?
