Just to say thanks to all who offered assistance on my clutch problem. The problem was that my biting pint was very low and then it became difficult to engage gears (td4 manual). After reading the forums It looked like it was the dreaded slave, but I took off the bottom engine cover and no fluid leaking there. So I decided to risk changing the master cylinder. And it looks like it worked. I am just about to go to the dreaded Tescos so fingers crossed all is now well.

So if you have a problem with a td4 clutch it may not be the slave, even if you dont have a puddle in drivers footwell.
I had no signs of leak on the master cylinder.

Anyway Thanks.

a cheep fix for this is to trim the mat and sound proofing around the pedal so you gain a bit more travel,
