What does the clutch damper actually do, just read an earlier thread with the same question and it wasn,t really answered, its just that since putting a manual box in mine i didn't get around to fitting the damper, but it has been ok, a bit heavy on the clutch. will fitting one make it any better ?

I don't know for sure, but I suspect it is all part of the NVH reduction that went on for Disco/RR, such as the weighted gear knobs, harmonic balancers and the like. Lots of little things to make stuff smoother and quieter makes for a rather different end package.

And if you've driven a good Disco 1/RRC it's amazing how much more refined they are than a Defender, despite under the body being almost identical with the same axles/gearboxes/engines etc.

Ok thanks for that, like I say it seems to be fine without one, just wondered why they put it there
