Hello everybody,
I'm from Germany and I’m an owner of an 110 tdci 2.4 from 09. Hope you guys can help me out. I have one major problem with my defender, I have a loud “clunking” noise when shifting gears, only when shifting gears while driving not from Nto1 or NtoR and also no noise when driving off. Could it be the mt82 output shaft? some workshops told me it couldn’t be because there can only be two conditions: broken or functioning and there is no condition where it’s worn out. Is that right? Please help me out.

Best regards

Danian

A loud clunk is normal if you are a bit heavy with your foot and take it off the pedal a bit quick. Should be nothing to worry about. And the shift through gears needs to be slow and steady, they don't shift like an ordinary normal car.

But I have a loud shocking clunk only when stepping off the clutch pedal (really don’t feels good). Shifting works smoothly when shifting with feeling.
It’s not that shocking loud when I step off the gas, wait for 2-3 second, shift, step off the clutch pedal and back on gas.

But I have a loud shocking clunk only when stepping off the clutch pedal (
Mine will do that if I release the pedal too quickly. Doesn't do it if I ease off a bit slower, especially the last inch or so.
