Today I replaced the head oil feed pipe on my 2 1/4 diesel egnine as the old one had split.

I have an early series 3 without a filler plug in the rocker cover.

Is there another quick way to check that the oil is flowing to the head properly? There isn't any real reason why it shouldn't be, but I want to be sure everything is flowing right.

Thanks for any replies.

Slacken the banjo bolt on the feed pipe while running or just remove rocker cover,at tick over most of the oil flowing from the tappets will remain in the engine.

I didnt know there was one. I find a thrash down the motorway at full tilt gives me an idea if all is well. If I get back home all is good.
:D

It's connected to the rear of the cylinder head. It feeds up from the block under the lift pump.

Mine had a pin hole sized leak. It seemed to drip quite a bit of oil.

Hay that might be one of my leaks. I do get a drop round the back. Oo err Mrs. Might have a look at that..........................one day.

You can get a replacement for about £6. It is connected by a banjo bolt at each end. I replaced mine in about half an hour.
