Having been stripping the front end of me 110 today the back end which was waxoyled is far rustier than the front which doesn't seem to have had anything on it.

depends on where you are with it, Pwhatever it is, bilt or hammerite if you have rust there, waxoyl if you are preventing in a box section.....waxoyl seals rust in if it aint treated right.....

I waxoyled my disco last year and it was a total waste of time, the ****e has no penetration whatsoever and just simply lays on the rust, which you aint gona get off and the chassis continues to rust, even worse.

I took two stay bars off the rear of my merc and ground them right down last year and hammerite painted them, and this year they are fooked again worse I might add than when they were left to fresh air.

I have rust at a boot handle and although I have cleaned it down and put that gel ****e on it and acid etched it, it still comes through.

I looked on web for alternatives but old engine oil is worse because of the acids, veg oil holds water, and that leaves dinatrol or ankor wax dinatol having the better write up. But it rusts from the inside out as well and you cant get in there to remove it so it's on top of the rust killing it.

Posted a thread here last week and it seems the best way is just to keep blasting it with a steamie.

Garages heated or unheated make it worse.

You are going to have to live with the fact that there are no cures for rust, metal has to be protected from new. If you check for my thread there was an expert that gave advice.

I really don' get you waxoyl people.. Bought into their hype that undercoats hurt and por-15 doesn't work. Sure spreading paraffin on your chassis will protect it for a year.. who wants to do that every year. Gets everywhere.. no fun to work around.

I guess no one remembers all the paraffin sprayers that got sued out of existence in the 80s because their products just didn't work. Simple and effective yes.. IF maintained. Its not durable.

Zinc dipping probably works best. Por 15/rust bullet work very well. GOOD brands of tar style undercoating work well. Nothing lasts forever but the waxoyl only tries to last a year or so.

Ever try the por-15 or rust bullet? I've never had it fail.. some things have been years without failure. Painting a whole frame is a pain.. but spot treating as paint fails.. sure..

It was cure rust I tried and it was crap, bought some acid 8 and going to see if it makes a difference this time but will give por-15 and rust bullit a try, Don't suppose you can spray yer chassis with it can you??
