OK Stupid question time, my 1988 VM classic is just sat waiting for me to do some work on her, and I'm waiting for some warmer weather before I venture outside with a spanner.
So what is the method for clipping on a battery charger, normally I'd just connect and power up, but as I have dual batteries will this still be OK? or is there something clever I should be doing with the split charge system?

Next stupid question, well perhaps not stupid but as I haven't got outside to actually start looking for the problem I won't hold it against anybody telling me to RTFM. ;)

The heater fan wont work unless the A/C is selected, can anyone suggest where to start looking for the problem? I would'nt have thought a fuse or relay would be at fault, but there again electrics and me really don't go well together.

do you have a split charge relay on it ?

here's my classic with twin batteries and a split charge relay..

You need to disconnect the leads and charge them individually to get the best result, if you charge with the leads attached the diaode will get wrecked
OK thanks for that, I'll do that and put the charger on one at a time. In fact now you say that it does seem logical. :)
