Hi there, can anyone help?
I have a 1989 110 csw, it is currently shod with 750x16 tyres which look more off road tyres than road ones. I have had a couple of occaisions when in wet weather and stopping suddenly due the idiots that drive round here skidded, which makes the heart beat a little quicker!!!!!!.
Is there another size tyre that will fit on the original steel 16" wheels?
What tyre can you recommend for say 70/30 road /offroad use?
I have heard that 235/85r/16 will fit, but also 205/16`s will fit, thats a big difference.
Will it affect gearing by changing to different tyres than the originals?

Thanks to anyone who can offer assistance.

235/85x16 are the same rolling circumferance as your existing 750x16's so rather than upset your already low gearing I would stick to that size. Go for an All Terrain tread pattern as that will work best for your road use but will also give you traction when using off road as long as it is not too deep with mud

16" is the rim size so any 16" tyre will fit, if you wanted you could fit low profile road tyres to em. do a search on here for tyre size guides. Theres a few around and you'll be able to compare the sizes of different tyres and the effect they have on your speedo. As for make of tyre BFG are good but at more than £100 a corner are expensive, Khumo's are good tyres and reasonable priced, PM Yella he has a contact who deals in Khumo's
