Hi - I'm fitting a CB to Edith my 90- and know nothing about CBs.

I'm wanting to fit an aerial to the military sticky-up pole thing on the body side (like the military do) and run a cable inside the tub capping to the seat bulkhead where it ends in a socket that I can plug a portable CB into for when its in the vehicle.

what do I need? Does an arial come with connects etc for the lead?
Can I use some good satallite coax as the lead?
What type of plug / socket do portable CBs plug into?
Whats a good sturdy whip type aerial?
Can someone reccommend a good handheld portable CB that's also good plugged into a vehicle mounted aerial?

Any other general CB advice?

Thanks

Yes a cb aerial will come with a connection in place
No get good quality MINI8 RG58 cable
PL259 connector
Base loaded sprung aerial like an Orbitor or thunderpole springer is probably the best for landys.
try you local CB shop or Maplins for a handheld cb.

You need to use correct CB radio lead fgor the aerial.
Mini8 RG58 Coax Cable
They use screw on connectors.
PL259.
For power, they use a connector similar to a figure of 8 connector, but with on bit filled in to allow connectiopn only one way - polarity is very important. Try to keep the radio earthed and fused will,
He's buying an handheld rig.
and keep the aerial in as much free space away from the engine, electrics etc. The middle of the roof is best, but a good compromise is the palce you have said.

It helps if you read replies to posts as well as the OP. to save repeating the same information. :)
