Can my exhaust be saved?

Hi folks,

Getting ready for an MOT and i found this hole in my exhaust (Disco 1 200 tdi). It is at the end of the intermediate pipe, onto the centre silencer. The rest of the system is looking fine, so i want to avoid replacing the whole intermediate pipe if i can (connection onto the cast downpipe also looks nasty to get to).

Would one of these repair bandages get me through my MOT? I think i'd need to encapsulate the flange to get a seal though....

Change the pipe.

Needs changing - no point in bodging for an mot, if the tester sees that repaired he may look a little more carefully at the rest of the vehicle.

I just purchased a downpipe (etc) section, and i think it was £16 or somthing???

(300tdi)

Even at double that, is it worth messing about?

That looks so badly corroded it wouldn't stand a bodge repair anyway. When it gets to that stage it's a replacement.
