Hi, all.

I am interested in buying a local swb S3 station wagon.

I like the look of it, but have just found out that it has the following MOT advisories:

"1. Rear crossmember suspension spring mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive
2. All 4 leaf spring deteriorated but not seriously weakened ( the rear leaf springs were replaced 3 years ago )".

I've had a quick look (Google), and parabolics seem to be the way forward.

Has anybody got any thoughts on either of these points, or me buying a S3 station wagon? Is it cheaper to insure with the 4 seats taken out of the back? Does it make any difference?

Cheers,

Chris.

Try to find a 200TDi Defender - they're a quantum leap forward from a Series but simple enough to maintain.
As far as insurance is concerned, a SW is a SW, whether or not the seats are fitted - it's how it's recorded on the V5 that counts. However, the difference in cost is small.

tax exempt is good, i didnt realise it wasnt rolling till after i got my 90 :( but then i didnt know much about cars then either. i do love my 90 though. its brilliant, cant say im a big fan of a tatty series. i seen a poor series 3 yesterday near me. looked like cat ****.
