bloody alternator on the TDi has self-destructed. front bearing collapsed,
causing lack of rotation.

and do any of the various alternators around here fit? do they buggery.

Also, the one on the newly acquired minibus is defunct as well, so that's
borrowed the one from the LDV. Minibus one has a vacuum pump driven off the
back of it, and guess what, 2 different kinds of pump. At least the pipe
connections are the same so it's possible to swap the alternator and pump as
a unit.

Do you want one in a serious, can't get it anywhere rush, or would you
like to swap for the one on the Corpse ?

When i rebuilt the alternator in my car a couple of months ago, 2 new
bearings from the local bosch place only came to a couple of quid.

nah, no point on this one - the front bearing housing had melted.

got both, reconditioned exchange, from the parts lot down in Carmarthen on
friday morning. TDi now fitted.

nah, needed it running tuesday (tomorrow) morning and I was away all
weekend. Luckily, got one on friday.
