While fitting new seals to my wheel cylinder I decided to change the shoes while I was at it. I have put the springs back in the same locations that I removed them from but am not too sure they were located right in the 1st place.
The upper spring goes from the pin on the back of the leading shoe that locates with the adjuster to a pin behind the trailing shoe on the back plate and not the trailing shoe itself. The lower spring gives the trailing shoe some movement to push the piston back but not much. I know the new shoes need to bed in but I took it for a short drive and quite a bit of heat was generated. It was also quite hard to spin the wheel while jacked up.
The adjuster is backed right off so that's ok.
I have looked at busters photo guides and it looks like the spring is connected between the 2 shoes and not how mine is/ was connected. The RAVE manual is a bit ambiguous buy seems to show it the way mine is/ was positioned.
Can anyone shed some light on the correct spring placement for the shoes.
It's a 1986 2.5na 90 if that makes any difference.
Cheers
