Brake pipes seizure and corrosion

Hey all...

The usual story with corroded brake pipes impossible to undo without destroying the copper pipe.... normally get around it by making up new sections of pipe with flaring kit... however... this time i've hit a snag!

the male thread on the flexible pipe on one of the fronts is completely stripped, and the female coupling nut has broken... so i need a new flexible pipe, shame cos they look to be pretty decent ones, not just "stock"... anyway...

my question is this... can i buy any flexible pipe as long as its the right length and has a standard male thread at both ends, or do i need a "proper" one for a defender? same goes for the male/female pipe couplings... presumably they are standard 10mm thread for 3/16" copper pipe? I may have to put in a coupling to join the copper pipe where i've had to chop it off, rather than replace the entire length right back to the master cylinder

reason i ask is i can most probably get these at a local motor factor rather than sending off for them and paying horrendous postage (as i live in ireland)

cheers guys! :)

ps.. would a dab of copper grease, only a dab mind, be a good idea to stop the pipes seizing in future? also, suppose it's best not to over-tighten them either
