Ready to build my Dash back up on my Rebuild, but now wipers don't work as they should.
For some reason the Drivers side wheel where it attaches to the wiper arm had been cut off so fitted new one, as the other was turning ok.
They both turn OK now when switched on but the new onw when the wiper arm is on just flops about , old one is better and holds the arm in place.
When switched off I can turn the new one by hand but not the old one, don't know whats going on there, Have ordered another. The motor seems OK, as both the cogs in wheels are moving in turn .
Cant get on now until this is sorted.
Any Ideas of Fix ?

Is the little adaptor on the end FUBAR or the little grub screw not done up.

just from memory may be sending you on a goose chase:oops:

I had some new adaptors last year and they were rubbish. and were not on for long.
Coming home one day I spotted something on the road, so I stopped and found a brand new wiper that looked Landy size. So I checked and found it was from my 90.:rolleyes:
Found some series type in a box, one's with a little bolt not a grub screw.

Sounds like the wiper arm is possibly the culprit then.
What does it look like in the spline area?

Not sure if f they should turn by hand, the new one does but the old dose not.

Think you could be right, Just using an old one I found splines don't look the best will try and clean it.

Get some new arm and order some new adapters that fit on the spindle. I think this caught both @bluedog333 and me last year, all fixed now for less than £20. The metal is soft and the first lick of frozen wipers strips the splines.
Yep, well remembered, was the little adapters that were slightly worn. I believe there are 2 types @border, so get the right ones! I’ve got the ones with a little bolt instead of a grub screw, much better grip.

One of the wheels is Brand New just fitted that's the one I can turn the arm round by hand, the old one wont turn by hand but both turn as they should when switched on. have ordered another wheel and some arms.

Sounds like the wheel box. If the gap between the cog and the lip on the wheel box is too big it will allow the cale to run through but not engage properly and so there will be a slop on the wipers. I fitted a genuine wheel box and a britpart one. The britpart one just need a very slight bend in the lip and that made the cable run though without slipping. There shouldn't be any movement where the cable runs through the cog. Hope this helps
