Bit of a sort out

When I took mine out for the rebuild I just cleaned the old seal and put it back in. It's been fine and doesn't leak. (touch wood)
Algae grows under the glass and may well create a route for water to sneak through. Worth taking it all out and giving it a clean, I reckon.
Thanks can you get it out from inside without removing the headliner? I was thinking to buy a new seal then take it out clean the frame and the cab roof then put it back with some silicon sealant.
I had a quick look on tweb but not sure how it comes out.
By the way ABACAB by genisis neary blew my alpine windows out what a treat but the wife didnt share my enthusiasm

I didn't because it came out in order as I stripped the vehicle down. Likewise I put it in before putting the roof liner in. Apart from the final rubber/velvety seal that goes over the liner. Having said that , I reckon it'll come out no bother with the roof liner in place. IIRC, when you take the outer seal/covering edge off, you can see the small screws that hold the outer part and inner part of the sunroof frame together. Some of mine were rusty :rolleyes: Unscrew those and bobs your uncle.

Cheers that has made my night I don't mind tearing 500 mw turbines apart but I hate interior trims they always want to go wrong and any flaw seems to stand out a mile.

Well blow me down
I served my time with the CEGB and have every right to be eternally gratefull to them what I learned has served me well, paid my mortgage and fed my ever hungry kids. A sad loss to the UK when they privatised our power which ended up in the hands of the French and soon the chinese.
Currently in Lyon and enjoying a drop of vino colapso.
 
Sadly, Parsons started losing contracts to GEC and other, IIRC, foreign companies. That was back in the day of Nationalised utilities and the government awarded the contracts. Annoyingly, GEC didn't have the equipment or facilities to do some of the work and we had to do some blade work for them and their balancing as they didn't have big balancing chambers for the LP turbines and rotors. All political IIRC, but I was just a young lad.
Lyon sounds very nice. Work or leisure? I'm off to Barcelona this weekend. Stag do :eek:

It's work, but a poor heart never rejoices, stag do sounds better, don't drive them mad with tales of the engine re build take time to relax.
Gets me a it when I think of companies like parsons who invented the turbine, but old age has gI've me the grace to step down from some battles. I've done well from my work but in later years my big regret is that I cannot pass on the knowledge which was freely given to me, and seems to be so much needed now, actually I travel around using the stuff I have learned and it serves me well. Maybe one day people will wake up to what has been wasted.
 
Very true. The demise of these companies is a crying shame.

Privatisation isn't all bad! I work for western power up in Midlands and I bet they pay better than government would haha. Pensions aren't as good though

Do you work in power stations? Drax isn't far from Nottingham.

Worked at Ratcliffe on soar on 453 when It was eon cos we had the generation and all the distribution in Midlands. Now I just do distribution only go to the power station for the primary substations
Moved to more 11kV and 33kV now

Hmmmm memory's not what it was. That might have a Parsons set in it. I'm sure they all had oval brass plates on each turbine and probably on the side of the stator casing, with C A Parsons on them. NEI Parsons in later years. Might be wrong though, it was a long time ago. Come to think of it they had lots of insulation on them so I could be talking pants! :)

I never did much in that part anyway! Mostly worked on transformers and switchgear, breakers cables etc
Defo preferred eon to wpd though. Never heard of any deaths in eon; way better place to work
