hi everyone

so another year has gone by us and yet again another total balls up by the staff and facilities at Billing. Sometimes i wonder why we put up with it, then i look at the pair of series three camels parked in my garage and then i know why!!!.

so the show. I arrived on the sunday before hand to find the site already packed. I headed towards my favourt camping area on the island by the little shop. What a shock to see most of the island already taken and roped off by advanced parties of landrover clubs securing large areas for themselves. I managed to get a small spot behind one of the trees only to be told that the whole side of the island was reserved. (Reservation at Billing mmmm new concept!!) and i would have to move. This so called club had one caravan and a tent but had managed to rope off all off one side and were apparently expecting a lot of people.

After some conversations they decided they did not need all the side of the island and left me with enough room for my caravan. Right time to get water. Ahhhh where have all the taps gone?...no signs for them either.....15 mins looking for a water tap. Eventually found one. ahhhh its got green alge all over it and someones BBQ waste....go to next one another 15 mins looking.

A few hours later decided to visit the loos...(yes i was still optimistic at that point, or insainly stupid!!) ahhhhh crap on the floor and i mean crap the real smelly stuff. looked in each trap no paper in any off them...trudge back to collect some from caravan...

the all too familar billing theme is appearing again so lets jump to friday morning first day down the show.

where has it all gone? i think i did the show in 20 mins flat and still feeling the large wad of cash in my pocket. for the first time in history there was nothing for the series owner to bye so decided to make a despirate bit to get something for one of the camels managed to get new coil and leads..wow excitting stuff. then went to scorpion for some new harnesses.......ahhhh none here have to order....given price....15 quid higher then web site price...told chap to sod off... went to exmore for new hood.. quoted 20 quid more then list price...again told him to sod off and headed to beer tent for sanity check and beer with anyone willing to tsalk landrovers...found large number of similar people and staggered back late friday night!!

this about sums the show up great people great landrovers **** show. I think personally LRE have lost sight of what matters at these shows and thats us the real landrover owners and drivers. So my message to them is and especially Dave Barker (after his comments after last years show) is lissen to what we are saying else your show will sink in the mud and go the way of the LRO show....

sorry this has been so long winded but i hope it sums up what we are all thinking.

Hi there
i think you definitely did i dont plan on going next year but that might change later in the year when i get over this one abit.
i think the price rises are shocking part of the fun of shows is getting something new for your motor and this just left a nasty taste in my mouth

hmmm, it was my first time visiting the LR show and to be honest i didnt think much to it either. it seemed kind of empty (as in not much to see/buy) and not very interesting :( I have been to quite a few car shows and they were alot different with many interesting things to see and do...

Sucks really, however, the show is only 15 mins away from me (if that) so its not like I went a long way to go and check it out.

Regarding the camping situation, you can come (and a few others) and camp out on my back lawn if you want next year :D:D:D lol

-Wills :)
