Hi all, been a little while since I was on here!

Anyway - as the title says I have a leak. Yes it's a Defender and I expect it and have gotten used to it, although this leak will cause damage if not sorted soon! So after a bit of rain, I will drive and a good amount of water will come pouring out from the dash on the pas side where the speaker is! Not only is this going to ruin my nice sound system, it's going to rot my bulkhead!. I've had a good look and really cant see where it could be coming from! Any idea?

Cheers.

Most defenders do leak, but I think that's partly down to "all defenders leak" and thus not being fixed. It's not supposed to, nor does it have to. Check the windscreen hinges (or fixing plates if it's a newer one) and also the seal between the windscreen frame and bulkhead. Could also be the rubber seal around the bulkhead vents, though in my experience this usually results in the formation of Lake Dashboard as well.

In addition to the above, what's the windscreen seal like? And how's the seal between the windscreen frame and the roof section?

I;ve sealed the hinges before and the windscreen bulkhead seal looks ok. I've done alot of leak repairs before. It seems to be coming maybe a little more inward perhaps it is from one of the vents but the seals were only changed couple years back.

Cheers

It could be getting into the car at the top of the windscreen and creeping down the A posts. Someone on here (Natas, I think) fitted a new roof without a suitable rubber strip between the windscreen frame and roof and loads of water came in during a tropical storm. So the water might be creeping along with a bit of surface tension and depositing itself in the dashboard from elsewhere.

I would check the roof sealing at the top of the windscreen. Water often comes in there, and will tend to run down inside the door pillars and come out lower down.
