At last a serious comment

I went narrower after much consideration, down to 1.95 x26. Couldn't resist the aggressive looking grip edges though so now having to put up with road noise at speeds over 10 mph

Not tried deep mud yet but they certainly seem up to the rough and tumble of the cycle track. Maybe a little twitchy when cornering hard but I'm not a speed freak so not too worried.

Pretty sure I won't be doing long motorway journeys anytime soon but I imagine they'd be loud at 70.

Overall I'm quite happy especially as they were by far the cheapest at halfrauds.

I'll report back on how many 1000's of miles I get out of them.....There might be a little wait though....

Not got Hi....

Just low, lower and lowest. The Sturmey Archers were nicely contained and protected but a right pain to work on though I believe Ashcrofts are working on a high ratio conversion kit which might be interesting.

Gearing is an issue as, sad to say, the old beast is woefully underpowered for todays modern road conditions. I've tried playing with the fueling but I've noticed the richer the fuel the poorer the performance and over-heating on hills is a constant worry.

I'd like to do a lift and roll-cage but I'm concerned about being top heavy. The roll-over angle is pretty dire as it is to be honest.

I'm fairly sure that's normal and just a few seals showing their age. I'm more concerned about the unexplained and seemingly random fluid loss

The Ashcroft conversion kit will be a real bargain at only £26,000 plus vat and fitting, in the meantime I would consult with James Martin regarding the cable tension or possibly adjusting the selector in the transfer crank box doo-dad. As for a roll bar, you could use TerraFirma chequer plate storage boxes arranged in a arch configuration to completely encase you and give you more important storage for flowers and Tampax. This will affect your fuel consumption a tad though, so maybe you should consider filling the tires with Nitrogen as all hard core off-roaders use that! Don't forget safety first either, I do hope you wear a Hi-vis jacket with "one life, live it"? Naturally you will want to change your seat like everyone else does, I can suggest a deck chair or bean bag works well.

i also think you need a new propshaft and your's looks a bit worn and not upto the job anymore.. it's also squeaking under load
